Divine Protection

A few days ago, Mumbai, India suffered a terrorist attack.
Oberoi-Trident Hotel and the Taj Mahal Hotel were seized late Wednesday by heavily armed gunmen from a little-known Islamic militant group called the "Deccan Mujahedeen" who singled out foreign guests.

The gunmen held foreign guests hostage as part of coordinated attacks hitting eight other locations including the main train station, a hospital and an up-market restaurant.

One of those hostages was a fellow Singaporean, Ms Lo Hwei Yen (in picture) who unfortunately did not survive.

To be frank, when news of the terror attacks broke, I wasn't too interested as I've grown accustomed to such bad news.  It did not have a great impact on me as everything was happening a long way from home, that is until news of Ms Lo's kidnap by the terrorists filtered through.

Suddenly I became interested, anxious for the latest update, hoping for the best for Ms Lo.  I don't know Ms Lo personally but she, a fellow Singaporean, made me feel as if it was Singapore that was under attack.  I feel sad for Ms Lo's family for their tragic loss.

I have always felt safe in Singapore, trusting that the Singapore Government is doing a great job in ensuring the nation's security despite the escape of Mas Selamat (a terrorist-linked detainee).  However, this tragic episode has reminded me to refocus my trust in Daddy God for my safety as well as my family's.

My eldest son has just gone on a 3-day trip to Malaysia with his school basketball team yesterday and I can only believe Daddy God will take care of him for me.  Daddy God promised me in Psalm 91.

Psalm 91

 1 Those who live in the shelter of the Most High
      will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 This I declare about the Lord:
   He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;
      he is my God, and I trust him.
3 For he will rescue you from every trap
      and protect you from deadly disease.
4 He will cover you with his feathers.
      He will shelter you with his wings.
      His faithful promises are your armor and protection.
5 Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night,
      nor the arrow that flies in the day.
6 Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness,
      nor the disaster that strikes at midday.
7 Though a thousand fall at your side,
      though ten thousand are dying around you,
      these evils will not touch you.
8 Just open your eyes,
      and see how the wicked are punished.

 9 If you make the Lord your refuge,
      if you make the Most High your shelter,
10 no evil will conquer you;
      no plague will come near your home.
11 For he will order his angels
      to protect you wherever you go.
12 They will hold you up with their hands
      so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.
13 You will trample upon lions and cobras;
      you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet!

 14 The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me.
      I will protect those who trust in my name.
15 When they call on me, I will answer;
      I will be with them in trouble.
      I will rescue and honor them.

 16 I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.”

Thank you Stanley, for sharing God promise of protection for His children in Ps 91.

Note that in verse 16, the word 'salvation' is 'Yeshua' in Hebrew, which is Jesus!

Daddy God want to satisfy us with long life, to show us Jesus. Amen.

Hi Meng Leong,

I guessing you're also from NCC since you embrace Daddy God too ;-)
