Sze Zeng's Article on NCC's Building Project

Sze Zeng aka YOUNG Joshua has written an article on New Creation Church's building project.

He said,"More to imagine how much can $19 million do. Those who support NCC's project try to justify by invoking practical and logistic reason (bold lettering done by me to show that Sze Zeng used this phrase to link back to my NCC Building Project article) . But I think the root problem is not they don't know how to manage their money, but they don't know what is a church and the gospel. They think the gospel is all about God's grace saving our souls from sin and death. Period. To them, a church is just a place for people to gather, sing praise and worship songs, pray, and listen to Joseph Prince, so that our souls can be saved. This is of course nonsense."

I posted the following comment on his blog just now:

"Dear Sze Zeng,

Thank you for posting a link to my blog. You have rightly said that my article is "invoking practical and logistic reason" for NCC's building project.

It seems to you that the practical and logistical issues that NCC faces are not good enough reasons for NCC to move to another location.

Perhaps you could visit Suntec City tomorrow and see for yourself first-hand the problems NCC faces since the IT Show is also being held there at the same time.

As tomorrow is the last day of the IT Show, I expect a very large crowd and would advise you not to drive there because you could have difficulty finding an available parking lot."

I look forward to Sze Zeng's feedback.

Hey Stan haha good reply =)

It is sad but you know when people are spoiling for a fight, they'll pick on everything.

So what is the gospel about to SZ I wonder? Does the dude not see the scriptures starts with the fall of mankind and proceeds with God's salvation plan and humbling of man's pride, before we realise it is ALL about Jesus and His glory, and reign with Him in the new heaven an earth?

A church is not just a place, it is the people as well. That is why NCC has a pastoral care ministry that ministers to its people from birth to death... That is why we have counsellors for the youths and adults to help them cope with everyday life.... But we do need a place to gather to glorify Jesus and to serve Him and a constant location so people who want to learn more about Christ know where to head to every Sunday. Perhaps SZ should suggest to his church that we all gather at some field instead, sometimes here, sometimes there. Who needs a building right??

Sometimes, I feel it is plain jealousy and lack of knowledge of the Word of Christos that drives people to sow discord amongst their own siblings in Christ. Paul has said so much about such a negative act of human pride. =pp

Ah well, God bless them and keep them in His grace anyways =) They need it too. Turn the other cheek as usual and give glory to Jesus that we who were once blind, now see! Amen?? =D

It just dawned on me that joshua and jealousy starts with the letter j.

Lol indeed. To add to your comment, The Lord pointed me to this.

John 12:3-8
3 Mary therefore took a pound of expensive ointment made from pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
4 But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (he who was about to betray him), said,
5 "Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?"
6 He said this, not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief, and having charge of the moneybag he used to help himself to what was put into it.
7 Jesus said, "Leave her alone, so that she may keep it for the day of my burial.
8 The poor you always have with you, but you do not always have me."

Hi Stanley,

Thanks for highlighting my post on your blog.

I've been to NCC a few times and understand the limitation of space the church is facing. Yet this problem is not something new or unprecedented in Christians history.

Hi Hungribunni,

I dont harbor any jealousy over NCC and its crowd. In fact I rejoice together with NCC for the effective gospel ministry the church has.

However my highlight is an opinion of my disagreement over differences. It shouldn't be a ground to speculate whether am I jealous or harbor ill motive or intention towards NCC.

To Malcolm,

Yes, Joshua and jealousy start with 'j'... so as Jesus and Jehovah and Joseph (Prince).

Hi Mal,

You have to admit, you got snookered by Joshua ;-)

Hi Sze Zeng,

What do you suggest that NCC can do to solve the problem of limitation of space even though it is "not something new or unprecedented in Christians history"?

Hi Stanley,

I would like to meet up with you over lunch or a drink. Are you OK with that?

Please email me I think we should meet up and get to know each other.

Hi Joshua...

Hmm I guess my views on jealousy are not targetted at you alone. But generally from all the hubaloo on cyberspace. You might not be jealous, but there are some who evidently reek of sour grapes.

And I also come from an ex-RC's POV that Protestant denominations seem to love to argue amongst themselves. Grins. ^.^

I hope all of us can truly be united in God's vision of victory for His saints one day. I think our bickering will always confuse those who dunno better. =p And by that, I am reminding myself too. =)

The Holy Spirit will affirm the truth and Jesus is His best advocate, not us. =) I think the testimonies we hear day after day from fellow bros and sis in Christ make it clear that He loves unconditionally. If only we can too.

The bible reminds us those who preach Jesus and glorify Him, are for the LORD and expand His kingdom here on earth.

My concern always is that people live a life of defeat, of ignorance and lack of knowledge - not realizing what Christ has obtained for them on the cross because of bad leadership. Leaders who lack faith and preach that lack from the pulpit. So many ppl I know have left church because of the way pastors push people into the pit instead of pulling them out of the pit from the pulpit.

Preach thou shalt and thou shalt nots and people will always feel like they can never attain His grace or to be worthy to be loved. So many I know wander off because they feel crucified in church. It saddens me because Christ was crucified for that same reason - so that we will not crucify ourselves everyday over our guilt, our anxieities and DIY spirit.

I lived in the shadows for the longest time and so I guess I hope for people to really come to see the grace of our LORD Jesus Christ.

As for church buildings - at the end of the day the Queen of Sheba journeyed far and wide to see the temple Solomon built for God's glory, and to listen to his God-given wisdom. She left being awed by the glory of God in the natural and in the spiritual.

My prayer is that people can see how our God is a God of ALL things possible through the church building being provided for despite the recession, and the testimonies of those who sowed and were given an abundant harvest. Many of us actually experienced additional blessings in our finances and felt led by the Holy Spirit to give to the church building.

I have no doubt you have a passion for our LORD and I pray for His blessings and wisdom to rain down on you. I pray that you will be blessed in every area of your life and to reign in your life because you are more than a conqueror in Christ. Amen. =)

God bless,
