Is Grace A Cover Up?

A blogger friend sent me this link (http://bit.ly/w6KF4) for a survey being conducted by John Bevere which asks for the first three words or descriptions that come to your mind when the "grace of God" is mentioned. Why don't you guys also fill out the survey and share with us here what you wrote?

She also sent me the link for a youtube video of an excerpt of John Bevere preaching about the grace of God being used as a cover up for sinful living. You can watch it here:

My responses :
1) unearned, unmerited, undeserved
2) amazingly, unfairly good
3) at Christ's expense

My responses:
1. But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.

2. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

3. For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.

Grace is:
1. God Rescuing Us At Christ Expense.
2. God Is Faithful and Just To cleanse us from All unrighteousness.
3. If we are forgiven all, then we are always Righteous in God's Eyes.

Hi Stan

Bevere said, "Don't confuse between justification and sanctification."

Mark Driscoll (reformed) and John Bevere (charismatic?) are both saying the same thing and you are disagreeing with both.

I think there are people who use Grace to cover up their sins. They may not be worshiping God but the idol they have erected in their hearts.

But they still think they are saved because they go to Church every week, read the bible and do all those things that Christians do.

Sad.

Hi Derrick,

I don't know what is "reformed" or "charismatic" BUT perhaps now you will understand my position ... this shows that I am consistent - I am disagreeing with what the two pastors said (which as you mentioned, both of them said THE SAME THING).

I am not disagreeing with the pastors; just what they SAID, and if another pastor of another label says the SAME THING, I will continue to disagree with what that pastor says.

It appear that fans of JP are stuck in this mantra or rather these two rules:

Rule 1. JP is always right and never wrong

Rule 2. If the Bible and other Christian ministers say otherwise, Rule 1 applies.

It appears that the worshippers of JP are stuck in this mantra or rather these two rules:

Rule 1. It does not matter whether JP is wrong or right. We just like to be entertained by him

Rule 2. We worship

a. JP
b. the mega-church
c. the mega-God we have erected in their hearts
